The story of Qiu Changchun Patriarch’s “Stop Killing with One Word” has been passed down by people for several times. It is precisely because of the immeasurable merits and virtues of the Patriarch that today’s Quanzhen Longmen is flourishing. Genghis Khan sent three courtiers to invite Qiu Zu to come out of the mountains, and Qiu Zu himself tried to influence Genghis Khan to “stop fighting for peace” and persuade him to return to the army as soon as possible in order to achieve peace in the world. Qiu Zu led 18 disciples to preach widely to the people of all nationalities and recruit believers during his westward journey. When traveling to Khovd in today’s western Mongolia, Qiu Zu left his disciples Song Daoan and Li Zhichang behind to establish the Quanzhen Taoist Temple and the organization of the Quanzhen Sect. Qiu Zu not only preached the true Dharma at the spiritual level, but also let people understand the doctrine. In Samarkand and other places in Central Asia, he used the grain given to him by Genghis Khan to cook porridge for the hungry people. Wherever Qiu Zu went, he was greeted and seen off by civil and military officials from various prefectures, counties and provinces, and was warmly welcomed and solemnly received. Qiu Zu had many long talks with Genghis Khan alone in his tent, and Yelu Chucai took notes. Yelv Chucai’s records were later compiled into the book Xuan Feng Qing Hui Lu. In the course of the conversation, Qiu Zuming knew that Genghis Khan was eager to understand the way of longevity, but he did not answer directly, but thought of the dilapidated scene caused by the Mongolian army’s Western Expedition along the way, and deeply felt that it was extremely incompatible with the purpose of Quanzhen Dao. Qiu Zuming replied: “To cultivate immortals, we must cultivate Yin De, and we must go to violence to stop killing.”. It is in line with the will of heaven and the will of the people that you rise to destroy the Western Xia and Jin, but you must prohibit brutal killing in order to make the cause successful. Er When Genghis Khan asked about the way to govern the country, Qiu Zu replied, “Respect for Heaven and love for the people should be the foundation.” Qiu Zu also skillfully borrowed natural phenomena such as thunder and lightning to advise Genghis Khan to advocate filial piety in the Mongolian Khanate. Qiu Zu especially explained to Genghis Khan: “Only by unifying the Central Plains and governing it well can we be called a great power.”. If we want to govern the Central Plains well, we must love the people and let them recuperate. When Qiu Zu was on his way to the Great Snow Mountain, the Mongolian army’s western expedition was full of corpses. Seeing this, he wrote two poems and presented them to Genghis Khan. One of the poems said: “The road was lined with bodies and people covered their noses.” Drowning streams and long ears hurt me. Ten years and ten thousand miles of war, “Return to the army sooner or later and hope for peace.” His poetry and mood were perceived by Genghis Khan, which played a catalytic role in Genghis Khan’s decision to stop the Western Expedition as soon as possible.
